The Accidental Prime Minister

The Accidental Prime Minister is a 2021 Indian Hindi language sports drama film directed by Vijay Gutte. It is produced by Sunil Bohra, Dhaval Gada under the banners of Rudra Productions (UK), Bohra Bros, Pen India Limited. The film star Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna, Suzanne Bernert, and, Aahana Kumra are in title roles. The music was composed by Sadhu Tiwari (India), Sudip Roy (UK).

The Accidental Prime Minister begins with severely distorted TV news footage from the UPA’s general election win in 2004. This rapidly gives way to the performers acting and appearing eerily like all real-life political figures, which is one of the film’s delights. On January 11, 2019, the film was released. It had a modest first day box office gross of 45 million (US$600,000) and a total of 30 crores as of January 24.

The Accidental Prime Minister Movie Review

It’s always going to be tough to adapt The Accidental Prime Minister into a film. Sanjaya Baru was accused by Democrats of leaking information to the press about Manmohan Singh.

Baru’s book, which came out four years after he left the PMO, revealed that the Congressmen weren’t wholly incorrect in seeing him as someone who attempted to separate the Prime Minister from the party. On the other side, it provided us with a rare glimpse into Manmohan Singh’s PMO.

Singh admired Baru, and the book mirrored Singh’s affection for his former employer. However, the two sadly fell out after Baru allegedly breached his promise to Singh that The Accidental Prime Minister would not be published until after the 2014 election. The film takes the risk of naming actual people and portraying them in the light in which they are seen. It also highlights Baru’s character’s lack of business and moral principles, as he exploits his unique position to divulge sensitive information in his book. Dr Singh gradually loses his faith and equity in him.
