Young, naïve females who are persistently jobless are used by dishonest businessman Jan-e-Alam by promising them jobs and subjecting them to inappropriate approaches. When they reject Jan-e-approaches, Alam’s many of the women who work for him are frequently harassed, assaulted, and defamed.
Maryam is a victim of his as well. He catches her in a business con and has her arrested when she rejects his indecent demands. Maryam is able to escape, but she is now constantly in danger from her evil former boss, who doesn’t seem to stop trying to ruin her life. Danish and Sanam had strong performances, and the play was well worth seeing since it brought to light the harsh facts of our society and provided a lesson for those who wrong others. With the exception of Jaan e Alam’s suicide, which we thought was needless considering that he had asked for an apology and had made up for Mariam’s loss, the conclusion was not hurried and was really rather compelling.
