He was the vice-captain of the Indian Under-19 team for the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and 2013 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup. Sanju scored an unbeaten 212 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20. He was bought by Kolkata knight riders in IPL auctions 2012 for 8 lacs.
