Arifa, an 8-year-old, is sexually assaulted and killed in the first scene of the programme, throwing her community into anarchy. Having said that, the entire storyline for tonight was quite subpar. The way the case was handled for all these weeks was what caused the verdict and the mood in the courtroom to have an effect. The court’s procedures were drawn out, with some portions being amusing. The judge’s involvement was ludicrous in a case that was not only very severe due to the nature of the crime but also because of the publicity surrounding it. The scenario in which Dabeer’s attorney claimed that his client was indeed insane and the court agreed with him until Safina intervened was the weakest.
