The film star Deepika Padukone, and, Vikrant Massey are in title roles. The music was composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy.

Chhapaak Movie Storyline

A reporter called Alka meets Amol Dwivedi, the founder of an acid attack survivors’ organisation, and tells him about Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack victim who is lobbying for a ban on acid sales. Laxmi is seeking for work, and Amol takes her on at his company.

Laxmi is assaulted with acid at a crowded market area in New Delhi in April 2005. The authorities believe Basheer Babbu” Khan, a family friend of Malti’s, and his brother’s wife Parveen Shaikh based on Laxmi’s and her lover Rajesh’s testimonies. After triangulating Babbu’s phone signal in the same region as the assault, the police apprehend him, while Laxmi has a series of surgery to restore her seriously disfigured face. Shiraz employs Laxmi’s parents as domestic help in his home; she contributes financially to Laxmi’s treatment and appoints Archana Bajaj as her lawyer. Acid assaults and the use of hot water to burn someone fall under the same provision of the Indian Penal Code, hence the penalties will be the same. Babbu and Parveen are clearly guilty in the initial sessions, since Laxmii’s statement is verified by witnesses and Parveen has the telltale scorched fingertips from throwing the acid.

On its first day in theaters, Chhapaak grossed Rs. 4.77 crore in India. The film grossed Rs. 6.90 crores on its second day. The picture grossed 7.35 crore on its third day, bringing its total opening weekend gross to 19.02 crore. Fox Star Studios, Ka Productions, Avernus Productions, and Mriga Films all funded the project.

The film has a global collection of 55.44 crore as of 7 February 2020, with a net of 40.57 crore in India and 14.87 crore internationally. Following the publication of the film, the state of Uttarakhand launched a new pension system for survivors of acid attacks.

Chhapaak Movie Review

Meghna recreates that inspirational narrative via Deepika Padukone’s Malti, with some alterations, of course. There would have been no film if the celebrity had approached it as a vanity effort. Chhapaak, on the other hand, wins because she delivers a strong, well-rehearsed act. It reflects a combination of grief, rage, resignation, and eventually, some form of resolve, rather than merely focusing on the devastated flesh with a missing ear and nose.

The film’s tenaciously realistic air also keeps it from being a sanctimonious, let’s-stand-up-for-these-poor-girls end up causing, which it might easily have been. Malti cries the first time she sees herself in the glass when she returns home from the hospital because her face has been devastated by acid. I’m sure you and I would as well. That is revealed to us from the front, unwaveringly. That requires a certain amount of bravery, and Padukone demonstrates that she’s ready for it without being ostentatious. And that’s what compensates for a few stumbling blocks, like the unnecessary songs: I suppose a studio picture without any music is still a long way off.
