• Klein worked in theater and made his professional debut in 1971 as a member of the Lincoln Center Repertory Company.

• His local theater productions from this period include Chemin de Fer (in Chicago with actor Dennis Franz), Death of a Salesman, and Love’s Labor’s Lost. A classically trained singer.

• Kline made his Broadway career debut in the 1989 musical City of Angels. He played Larry Dallas, Playboy’s neighbor, used-car salesman, and best friend to John Ritter’s Jack Tripper in Three’s Company.

• Klein appeared in 110 episodes of Sleize Company from 1977 until 1984, and as Larry Dallas in the spin-off shows The Ropers (1979) and Three’s cloud (1985). Larry has the distinction of being the only character to appear in Three’s Company and its two offshoots, aside from Jack Tripper.

• In addition to his television and film appearances, Kline has hosted two of his game show pilots, 1988 Jumble and 1990 To Tell the Truth. The rights to the show, along with Gordon Elliott, were then sold to NBC, later hosted by Lin Swann and Alex Trebek.

• Kline’s TTTT pilot erroneously aired on the East Coast on September 3, 1990, when the show debuted. He also signed in Charles Nelson his Riley as his panelist on Sweethearts guest on his one-week show in December 1988.

• His game show celebrity appearances included both The $25,000 Pyramid and The $100,000 Pyramid, Super Password, and multiple appearances on the Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour.
