• After drama school, Badland joined Ian McKellen’s Actors Company at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

• Her first professional films were Three Arrows directed by Noel Wilman (directed by Iris Murdoch) and Ruling the Roast directed by Richard Cottrell (Georges Feydeau) in October 1972.

• After a pantomime (Lancaster, Toad Hall at the Dukes Theatre), she joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford at the end of 1973 season.

• Her Audrey in As You Like It was seen as a promising debut for her big company. Badland was at the Aldwych Theater from October 1992 to February 1993 in her Cartwright play, Jim Cartwright, which depicts a shy young Lancashire woman who expresses herself in her songs.
