In a first-of-its-kind move, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will usher in a mid-season transfer of players between franchises. This move enables players to switch to another franchise. A mid-season transfer can ideally suit the franchise to come up with new ideas, and their think tanks can be roped into players who can fit their game plan.

Knowing Mid Season Transfer Rules
So here’s how the mid-season transfer rule works and applies:

1) Midseason transfer applies to both capped and uncapped players
2) All 8 franchises are eligible to transfer players in the middle of the tournament, i.e. after playing every 7 matches.
3) A player will be eligible for transfer only if he has played 2 matches or less before the transfer is effected.
